SOM-INN PORT participates in two presentations of the NasApp project

On Monday 11 December, EURECAT, the AEQT, the Port Authority of Tarragona and SOM-INN PORT organised, in the conference room of the Port Authority’s headquarters, the Presentation Day of the annual summary of operation and odour records obtained through the NasApp mobile application, which is the direct communication tool with historification and analysis at the service of citizens to report possible incidents related to odours.

Citizen participation is a dynamic indicator that is updated in real time, so that it is possible to detect the onset of a possible relevant odour problem in time. By means of NasApp, it is also possible to continuously monitor the situation of odour episodes.

The project was initiated in 2008 by the AEQT, but in 2023 the Port Authority of Tarragona has joined. The NasApp project was selected in the 2nd Call for Commercial Projects of Ports 4.0, and has obtained funding to improve the usability of the platform and the automation of reports, the integration of air quality data from open data sources, predictive algorithms based on historical data, and the demonstration of the complete system in the logistics-port environment of the Port of Tarragona.

The prototype is currently being carried out in the Port of Tarragona, in order to be able to predict with artificial intelligence possible episodes of odours that may affect the port community and the neighbours near the port area. The Port Authority of Tarragona already has atmospheric meters for the characterization of air quality, but thanks to the NasApp project it will now have more data and information that will allow it to optimize its operations and improve air quality.

The NASAPP application is available on Android and IOS platforms, is free to download and allows you to report and record any type of odoriferous nuisance, whether of agricultural, industrial, urban origin, etc.

It was also explained how  the Ports 4.0 Capital Fund  contributes to financing innovative projects for Smart Ports and several projects that have been selected in the various Ports 4.0 calls, on environmental issues and port operations, and that apply artificial intelligence to various aspects of port work, were presented.

One of the projects that were presented was NasApp of the Port of Tarragona, which aroused a lot of interest among the attendees of this Conference.
