SOM-INN PORT attended the signing ceremony of the Pact for the promotion of the Blue Economy in Tarragona, which took place on December 12, at the Tarragona Impulsa facilities.
This pact, promoted by Tarragona City Council through Tarragona Impulsa, a member of SOM-INN PORT, aims to establish a collective commitment to promote economic growth, innovation and sustainability within the framework of the blue economy in the city.
The Blue Economy Pact consists of a decalogue on the basis of which the driving agents and collaborators establish the essential principles and commitments. It is based on three main objectives: governance and cooperation between entities, the promotion of business competitiveness and the improvement of employability in the sectors of economic activity linked to the marine environment.
The 12 signatories of the Pact are: Tarragona City Council, the Tarragona Port Authority, the Tarragona Chamber of Commerce, the Rovira i Virgili University, PIMEC, the Department of Education and Vocational Training of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Tarragona Fishermen’s Guild, the Employment Service of Catalonia, APPORTT (Group for the Promotion of the Port of Tarragona), the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food of the Generalitat, Royal Yacht Club of Tarragona and Tarragona Impulsa.

This alliance aims to ensure effective and coordinated collaboration aimed at generating opportunities for the territory in the marine environment, while ensuring its preservation.
Santiago Castellà Surribas, President of the Port of Tarragona, during his speech indicated that the Port of Tarragona wants to be a green port towards a blue economy and cited several specific actions that are being carried out in the Port for this purpose. He also highlighted the value of SOM-INN PORT, Open Innovation Ecosystem of the Port of Tarragona, given that in the actions that have been carried out since its inception, innovation in the blue economy has been promoted among all its members.

The Blue Economy Pact in Tarragona involves commitments between all participants with the aim of working together and coordinated for the blue economy and sustainability, generating proposals, sharing them and carrying them out.
