Project leader
The leadership of this project is shared by the Port of Tarragona, Vila-seca and Repsol with the Rovira i Virgili University, the Institute of Environmental Hydraulics of the University of Cantabria, the technology companies Prodevelop SL and Portel Logistic Technologies, and the business association APPORTT.
Project description
The Cal·lípolis Next Generation project is a proposal to convert a wide space, between La Pineda and the Port, into a new economic engine of industrial, logistical-intermodal, tourism and landscape type for post pandemic recovery with a clear commitment to the green economy, sustainable tourism and the landscape recovery of natural spaces. It consists of a set of 11 innovative milestones:
- Development of the Logistics Activities Zone
- Development of ZAL (Logístics Activities Zone) connectivity
- New contra dock of Els Prats
- Environmental recovery Red Natura 2000
- Environmental Recovery of the promenade of La Pineda
- La Pineda Beach consolidation
- Regeneration of the Marine Ecosystem
- Front Transformation 80-S
- Logistics improvement of the C4 fraction
- Digital development of truck tracking
- Digitization of access management
Project objective
The 11 initiatives of the Cal·lípolis Next Generation project have the following objectives, among others:
- Generate a great positive impact on the economy of the
- Promote intermodality and the growth of freight traffic.
- Modernize and improve the logistics and operations of Repsol’s facilities.
- Redefine the promenade of La Pineda and the recovery of the landscape promoting a new model of sustainable tourism.
Expected benefits of the project
The achievement of a solution that allows the coexistence between tourist activity and logistics activity and, at the same time, respect for the natural environment.
