Description of the project

The Prestamar project is an innovative initiative financed by Ports 4.0 aimed at developing a tool to predict the stability of ships’ moorings during loading and unloading operations.

This project is based on the development of a Big Data control platform that collects real-time data from several heterogeneous sources. Using Artificial Intelligence, the information is processed to facilitate decision-making in the port management of ships objectively.

The platform can predict adverse weather conditions, such as wind, current and tide, providing objective operating criteria and predictions linked to the dynamic conditions of the docked ship. This will allow an efficient replanning of operations and a better allocation of available resources.

The solution developed is non-intrusive and can be easily integrated into existing port operations, thus contributing to the improvement of operational efficiency and safety in maritime operations. The results are expected to benefit other ports and port stakeholders in the future.

The pilot project will be tested at Punta Estel in the Petronor terminal (Repsol) of the Port of Bilbao, where it will be tested for one year.

This project is an example of how new technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence and Big Data, facilitate data-driven decision-making by promoting smart, efficient, and sustainable management of port operations.

Objectives of the project

The main objective of the Prestamar project is to develop a tool to predict the stability of ships during loading and unloading operations, using a Big Data control platform with Artificial Intelligence to improve decision-making in port management.

The tool will make it possible to predict adverse weather conditions for better planning and allocation of resources, thus contributing to operational efficiency and safety in port operations.
