Innovative mobile ecological hopper in the Port of Paracas

Project Manager

The Port of Paracas is responsible for the project, through the concession of Terminal Portuario Paracas S.A.

Project Description

The Port of Paracas, located in the Ica region, Peru, has taken an important step towards sustainability by implementing an innovative mobile ecological hopper, designed to reduce dust emissions during solid bulk unloading operations. Its innovative design allows dust to be captured before it disperses into the atmosphere, improving air quality in the port environment and protecting both workers and nearby communities.

This new machinery reduces dust emission to a minimum, with levels higher than the most demanding global standards and optimizes the discharge times of clinker, a key component for cement, guaranteeing an efficient and safe operation.

The Port of Paracas considers that the new mobile ecological hopper not only goes beyond environmental standards, thanks to its dust suppression system, but also that being mobile allows an agile operation, offering a high-quality service that ensures sustainability.

The Port of Paracas considers this mobile ecological hopper as a key investment, of about $2M, since it reinforces its operational capacity, represents a continuous improvement in the logistics chain and at the same time guarantees strict respect for the environment.

The implementation of the mobile ecological hopper and infrastructure improvements allow the Port of Paracas to increase its operational capacity in a more efficient and sustainable way, contributing to the economic development of the region while minimizing environmental impacts.

Project objectives

The main objective is to optimize loading and unloading operations in the Port of Paracas, making them more efficient and environmentally friendly. The main purpose of the implementation of this mobile ecological hopper is to reduce the emission of dust during the handling of solid bulk, mainly clinker, which contributes to improving air quality in the areas near the port.

In addition, the project is part of a broader strategy to modernise the port that includes optimising its infrastructure to increase operational efficiency.

The project aims to optimize operational capacity, ensure the sustainability of operations and improve the competitiveness of the Port of Paracas in the regional and international context.
