Abu Dhabi Mobility and Abu Dhabi Maritime have launched MARSDNA (an acronym for Maritime Sustainability DNA), an innovative digital tool specifically designed to promote ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) sustainability in the maritime sector.

In the context of the growing need to integrate these accountability criteria into the maritime industry, the ESG framework is key to measuring a company’s sustainability and ethical impact, so the MARSDNA solution can help strengthen sustainable practices within the maritime sector and set a global standard in ESG assessment. MARSDNA enables companies to measure their impact on international and national ESG metrics, offering almost instantaneous personalized recommendations to improve sustainability strategies. This innovative tool is aimed at large corporations, looking to refine or accelerate their existing ESG programs as well as small and medium-sized companies in the maritime sector that often lack the means to develop their own strategies, as the tool has no associated costs.

In its first phase of implementation, MARSDNA focuses on five key segments of the maritime value chain: shipping companies, port and terminal operators, cargo carriers and beneficiaries, maritime and offshore services, and marina operators. In addition, it allows users to complete a digital questionnaire and generate downloadable reports that provide targeted guidance and connect with additional information to optimize their operations.

Project objectives

MARSDNA’s main objective is to provide maritime organizations with an innovative accessible and effective digital tool that facilitates the measurement and improvement of ESG practices, supporting both companies that are starting their sustainability journey and those that are looking to refine their existing strategies. The tool seeks to democratize access to advanced ESG resources by centralizing international and national standards on an intuitive and free platform.

In addition, the solution aims to drive the adoption of sustainable practices across the maritime value chain, from shipping companies to port operators. By providing tailored recommendations and generating detailed reports, the tool fosters innovation, raises environmental and social standards, and reinforces Abu Dhabi Mobility’s and Abu Dhabi Maritime’s commitment to sustainable development.
