The project leader is the Port of Paracas (Peru) in collaboration with the company BOSCH.
The Port of Paracas has promoted a project to increase port security by implementing cameras incorporating artificial intelligence. The central objective was to address the security needs of a terminal with an area of 110,000 square meters even in adverse weather conditions.
The cameras offer 4K UHD resolution and are designed to withstand winds of up to 290 km/h (130 mph). They move horizontally and vertically and have a 12x zoom, which allows a better view in high air salinity conditions. They have optical image stabilization that ensures vibration-free surveillance even in high wind conditions. The camera network has been installed on 10 masts over 40 meters high.
One of the outstanding features of the project is the cameras’ ability to perform artificial intelligence-based tracking, which allows determining the precise location of objects, people, vehicles, etc. This capability will improve emergency response by enabling port personnel to reach the correct location in less time.
Video analytics through artificial intelligence allows the area to be constantly monitored for motion and automatically track environmental elements at precise locations that move within the range of the cameras. The cameras are able to detect and classify the elements of the environment at precise locations that move within the range of the cameras. In addition, the camera network is integrated with Genetec’s RSA module, a perimeter protection system that groups several physical sensors into a single interface, allowing accurate tracking of intrusions by PTZ sensors automatically and efficiently.
This project is a clear example of how innovation and the incorporation of new technologies are driving significant improvements in port security and efficiency, demonstrating Genetec’s commitment to technological leadership.
The main objective of the project is to improve port security by installing cameras with artificial intelligence capable of detecting intrusions and criminal activities in critical areas of the port. To this end, they seek to ensure high quality surveillance in an area of 110,000 square meters by installing devices that provide high resolution images even in adverse weather conditions, such as strong winds and salty environments.
