Project description
BT and the Port of Belfast have partnered to build the first 5G ecosystem at the port. The private 5G network has been created to achieve high levels of ultra-fast mobile connectivity, coverage, reliability and security in the main operating areas of the port. This is a way to accelerate digital transformation and meet its goals as a smart port. The network is highly secure and scalable. 5G technology can transform port operations, drive the success of local businesses and foster economic growth. It will also help to ensure the safety, security and sustainability of the entire port area.
Project objectives
The Port of Belfast’s strategic ambitions with the introduction of the 5G network are to become a smart port that interacts creatively and effectively with customers, visitors and employees.
