REDESSA, a member entity of SOM-INN PORT, organised the third edition of the Startups Summit on June 11, consolidating this meeting as a reference event for the emerging business ecosystem of Camp de Tarragona and Terres de l’Ebre. SOM-INN PORT attended this event, which brought together at Tecnoparc firaReus Events around 150 professionals linked to entrepreneurship, innovation, investment and business development, with the aim of connecting talent, investment and success experiences around the start-up ecosystem of Southern Catalonia, sharing knowledge and generating new collaboration opportunities.
The programme of the event focused on some of the main challenges faced by start-ups in their growth, such as the application of artificial intelligence, access to funding, entrepreneurial support and knowledge transfer between the academic and business spheres.
The event began with institutional welcome remarks by Javier Selva, Director General of Technological Innovation and Scientific Internationalisation of the Government of Catalonia. Afterwards, Sergi Besonias, Spin-off Manager at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, delivered the opening keynote lecture, focused on the potential of artificial intelligence to transform research into innovative solutions for companies.

One of the central spaces of the event was the round table dedicated to the funding map for start-ups, in which representatives of 4Founders Capital, Encomenda Capital, Next Tier Ventures and EconomistesBAN participated, sharing with emerging companies the main investment channels and current trends in the venture capital market.

Another highlight was the presentation of the nine finalist start-ups of the fifth edition of the REDESSA Incubator, which presented their projects to the entrepreneurial and investment ecosystem: Saensa, Alganova Biotech, Neumacare, ¿Qué Plan?, Ingredizymes, Negociator, New Art Foundation, Drop it and Villagehub. These start-ups received certificates as participants in the latest incubation programme.

The closing keynote was delivered by Enric Ginovart, founder and CEO of Dormideo, who shared the company’s growth experience and reflected on the role of artificial intelligence in the evolution of business models.
The event concluded with a networking space that enabled strengthening connections between start-ups, companies, investors and territorial entities.
