About SOM-INN PORT
The mechanism that activates and structures innovation at the Port of Tarragona.
SOM-INN PORT was born in 2018 as an open innovation initiative driven by the Port of Tarragona to create a stable space for collaboration between the port community and the various stakeholders of the innovation ecosystem, facilitating knowledge exchange, idea generation and the drive for new solutions.
In this first stage, a governance and participation model was defined and deployed based on different instruments: the Agora as a coordination space, the competitive intelligence and innovation cells, the participation of external stakeholders and a digital platform to support innovation management.
In parallel, training, networking and innovative project development activities were promoted through Design Thinking and Sprint methodologies, establishing a common knowledge base and a shared innovation culture among the ecosystem’s members.

SOM-INN PORT is today configured as the mechanism that activates and structures innovation at the Port of Tarragona, articulating a dual complementary approach: as an open innovation ecosystem, connecting the Port with companies, startups, knowledge centres and local stakeholders to identify opportunities, share knowledge and drive collaborative projects; and as an internal innovation service, supporting the different departments of the Port Authority of Tarragona in identifying challenges, seeking solutions, connecting with partners and accompanying transformative projects.
